Experienced, qualified and always present
The Speak Teens staff team is selected for experience, language skills and their ability to manage a residential environment with teenagers.
Staff sleep in the same corridors as the students. Rooms are divided by age and gender. There is always a qualified team member on duty, day and night - including a female and a male Welfare Coordinator responsible for the wellbeing of every participant.
The ratio is 1 Speak staff member for every 6 students, in addition to the Teen Anglos who share every moment of the day with participants.
Who looks after your child
Every role at camp has a specific responsibility. Here is who is on the ground.
Summer Camp Director
Overall responsibility for the programme, welfare and daily operations of the camp.
Learning Director
Oversees the educational programme, lesson planning and language assessment process.
Learning Coordinator
Supports the teaching team and coordinates the One-to-One session schedule.
Welfare Coordinators
One female, one male. Dedicated to student wellbeing, room management and pastoral care 24 hours a day.
Qualified TEFL Teachers
Native-speaking teachers with recognised TEFL qualifications, responsible for outdoor group lessons.
Camp Leaders
Energetic team members who organise and run activities, games and evening events alongside the Teen Anglos.
How the day is structured for safety and independence
Camp life is designed to give students independence and confidence while keeping them safe at every moment.
Phones: kept in the camp office during the day and returned every evening between 18:45 and 19:45. An emergency camp phone is available to families day and night.
Rooms: 4 to 6 beds, en suite, divided by age and gender. Staff sleep in the same corridors.
Meals: full board. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Dietary requirements are managed on request.
Medical: a first-aid trained staff member is always present. The nearest hospital is within reach. Families are contacted immediately in the event of any health issue.
Preparation starts before the camp
Every student takes a short online Language Assessment before departure. This lets us group students by age and level for lessons, so no one is out of their depth - and no one is held back.
Online, before camp
A short session with a Speak teacher, conducted online. Takes around 20-30 minutes. No preparation needed.
Groups by age and level
Results are used to assign students to the right lesson group. Anglos rotate regardless of level.
Optional Cambridge test
At the end of camp, students can take the Cambridge English Skills Test. Results are shared after the camp.
