Yes — the camp itself is completely free. Teen Anglos take part in the full programme at no cost.
The only charge is a one-off, non-refundable admin fee of €350 per Teen Anglo, payable within 14 days of receiving your Confirmation Email. This covers administration and logistics, including the unaccompanied-minor service where needed.
Yes. If two siblings both apply and are accepted for the same or different camps, the second sibling pays 50% of the admin fee — €175 instead of €350.
Your admin fee covers your place. Once you arrive, everything is included:
We recommend a minimum of €80. This covers extras at the camp bar, snacks, and any personal purchases during the excursion. You can of course bring more.
Teen Anglos must be aged 13–17. You need to be at least 13 on the first day of your chosen camp and no older than 17 on the last day.
Teen Anglos are native English speakers from all over the world. Most come from the UK, Ireland, the US, Canada and Australia, but we welcome applicants from any country, as long as English is your first language. The camp is conducted entirely in English.
There are three camps in 2027:
See the Camp Dates 2027 page for full details.
The camp is at Centro Turistico Valbonella in Bagno di Romagna, Emilia-Romagna — a purpose-built residential centre in the Apennine hills, about 1.5 hours south of Bologna. See the Location page for more.
You arrive at the Welcome Club in Bologna between 09:00 and 14:00 on Day 1. A private Speak coach then takes all Teen Anglos directly to Valbonella — the journey is approximately 1.5 hours.
On the last day, the coach returns you to Bologna Welcome Club, where parents or guardians collect you between 12:00 and 14:00.
No — please do not book any travel until you have received your official Confirmation Email from Speak. Your place is not confirmed until you have signed the Anglo Agreement and paid the admin fee. The Confirmation Email is sent once both steps are complete.
Yes. The unaccompanied-minor service is included in the admin fee. You need to let us know as early as possible — we coordinate with the airline or rail operator on your behalf. Email teenanglos@speakinitaly.com to arrange this.
Each Teen Anglo is responsible for checking their own visa requirements. Please contact your nearest Italian embassy or consulate well in advance of travel.
You will need an individual passport (not a child-added-to-parent passport) that is valid for at least six months beyond the last day of your programme.
Yes. If your teen's travel falls outside the Welcome Club arrival or departure times, we offer an Overnight Stay Service at the Amadeus Hotel in Bologna — our Welcome Club venue. This costs €110 per night and includes hotel accommodation, meals, and full supervision by Speak staff for the entire duration of your child's stay in Bologna.
All overnight stays are booked through us. Email teenanglos@speakinitaly.com to arrange it.
Phones are kept securely in the camp office during the day — this is part of what makes the immersion experience work so well. There is a dedicated daily phone session from 18:45 to 19:45 when you can call home, message friends, or catch up on social media.
Public liability insurance (Unipol Sai) is included for all Teen Anglos. However, private travel and medical insurance is not included and is strongly recommended. Please arrange comprehensive cover before you travel to Italy.
Applying is straightforward:
Your place is confirmed once the Anglo Agreement is signed and the fee is paid. Only then should you book travel.
Email us at teenanglos@speakinitaly.com or fill in the enquiry form and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
